Mtskheta is the religious center of Georgia and the ancient capital of Georgia. Locals often call this city the second or Georgian Jerusalem, and for good reason.

In one day, you will have time to visit two amazing places. When viewing cities, you will visually trace the path that Georgia has gone from the time of the early Bronze Age to the adoption of Christianity.

First climb up to the 6th century Cross Cathedral, from here you will have a charming view of Mtskheti. Next you will visit the Svetitskhovli Cthedral (The Living Pillar), the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church. Get to know its history and important events of the past. Here are the relics of Christianity - the cloth of Jesus Christ and the cloak of the prophet Elijah.

Next, you will get to know the pagan past in the Uplistsikhe cave. While exploring the stone labyrinths of living and communal rooms, you can imagine the life of the pagans and their cult rituals. Then you will visit the Stalin Museum in his hometown of Gori. Throughout the Pantheon halls of the museum you will find a preserved statue of Stalin, his personal belongings and furniture.
