Vores lokale specialistguide, Nuri, fortæller: "Risterrasserne i Jatiluwih Village er blandt de smukkeste i verden og vedligeholdes af et traditionelt og økologisk vandingssystem, der har været brugt siden det 9. århundrede, Subak-systemet, en praksis, der er unik for Bali, og som omfatter filosofiske og spirituelle overbevisninger". At vandre rundt i Balis Sommerfuglepark i Tabanan bliver det første, vi gør. Det er et reservat for sommerfugle og insekter med hundredvis af sommerfugle herunder nogle sjældne indonesiske arter. Du bliver opslugt gående en tur gennem de labyrintiske haver, mens du nyder de farverige insekter, der flagrer omkring dig. Derefter stopper turen ved Jatiluwih-risterrasserne, som har status som Verdensarvssted hos UNESCO. Turen går dybere ind i landskabet, som vi ankommer til bjergbyen Bedugul og Beratan-søen. Her finder du det ikoniske hinduistiske Shaivite-tempel Ulun Danu. Templet ligger på et lille udsigtspunkt over søen og er hjemsted for vandets gudinde ved navn Danu, som menes at kontrollere øens vandingssystem. Til sidst besøger vi Taman Ayun-templet, et kongeligt tempel fra det 17. århundrede i Mengwi-imperiet. Taman Ayun ligger omgivet af gigantiske fiskedamme og kan oversættes til »smuk have« - og det er det virkelig.

Heldagsudflugt på Bali med tempelstier og rismarker

Her udfolder risterrasserne, som er på UNESCOs verdensarvsliste, sig i et smaragdgrønt panorama og viser Balis landbrugsarv. Efter en frokost med udsigt går turen til det ikoniske Tanah Lot-tempel, der aftegner sig i silhuet mod havet.
