On this guided tour, you'll experience Villa Romana del Casale, a veritable mosaic treasure trove that bears witness to the daily life habits of fourth-century patricians. It reflects borrowings and cultural influences between the Roman world and the North African area and is said to be the most luxurious Villa of the late imperial Roman age.
You'll begin your tour by visiting the baths, where you can still feel the enveloping warmth of the caldaria or the roar of the Gela River water filling the frigidarium.
Thanks to the beauty and vividness of the mosaics, you'll feel part of the history and even feel as if you can hear the screams of the audience watching the competitions between quadrigas.
Next you'll visit the guest's apartment, where you can admire scenes of daily life such as fishing activities, hunting and banquets. Next you'll move to the public area of the Villa, where the owner used to receive his "clientes," taking them through the amazing ambulatory of the Great Hunt: a giant map of the Roman Empire.
You will complete your tour by visiting the wonderful private apartments of the domina and dominus.
