Take a walk around the city to discover the most important sights and monuments. See Prato della Valle, the largest square in Padua and among the largest in Europe, which with its 78 statues is an album of the important characters of Padua. The Basilica of Sant’Antonio or “Il Santo”, is a destination for millions of pilgrims each year and a romantic mix of styles and cultures from all over the world. Along the cobblestone streets, reach the medieval heart of the historic centre. You'll see the ancient Ghetto of the city that with its narrow streets has become a meeting place for young students.
Then head to Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza della Frutta, with the view of the Palazzo della Ragione often enlivened by the Market stalls and the swarming of people under the "Salone." You'll reach Piazza dei Signori, a meeting place for Paduans at the aperitif and once the home of the Lords of the city. Palazzo Bo, the headquarters of the University of Padua, was founded in 1222 and has always attracted students from all over the world.
