Enjoy a full-day excursion from Rome to the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum to discover the area's ancient Roman past with an expert!
You'll be provided high-speed train tickets from Roma Termini Station for your independent journey. Then, you'll be picked up at Naples Central Station and, after a short drive by a comfortable minibus, you will reach the archaeological park of Herculaneum which is much smaller but better preserved than Pompeii. While Pompeii was covered by four to five meters of ashes, Herculaneum was buried under a mud landslide deep 20 meters. Discover the ruins and other archeological highlights; your guide won't miss a stop at the House of Neptune and Amphitrite and the beach where hundreds of skeletons are preserved.
Once in Pompeii, stop for lunch and begin your walk along the Roman streets. Learn about the town's history and how the Romans lived and see all the most important public buildings and private residences, including the Marina Gate, the basilica, the forum, the baths, the lupanar, the bakery, the house of Faun, the Termopolium Capuano, the house of Tragic Poet, and the plaster casts. After the walk, the driver will pick you up and transfer you back to Naples Central Station.
