The northernmost zoo in Japan, Asahiyama Zoo, is nestled in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido. From there, the journey continues to Shikisai-no-oka in Biei, a location that morphs into a winter wonderland. Amidst the snowy fields stands the solitary Ken&Mary tree, an iconic symbol known for its artistic allure. You'll have the opportunity to admire this sight from the comfort of your vehicle.

The final stop is Ningle Terrace in Furano, a place imbued with the spirit of Japanese author Kenji Miyazawa's characters. This woodland workshop is dotted with small cottages showcasing a variety of handmade crafts exclusive to the region, including glassware, paper art and lavender-themed souvenirs. Each shop exudes a certain charm and offers meticulously crafted items found nowhere else. The terrace takes on a particularly romantic ambiance in the evening when it's illuminated. After securing some keepsakes, the day trip concludes with a return to Sapporo.
