Gorée Island, a tropical haven with colonial history, is just a short ferry ride away from Pointe Sarène. This island, located off the coast of Senegal and facing Dakar, was once the largest trading centre on the African coast between the 15th and 19th centuries. Its architecture presents a stark contrast between the sombre slave quarters and the elegant residences of slave traders.
During your day trip, you'll see the island's most important sites, including the House of Slaves Museum, St Charles Church, and the Senegal Historical Museum. Wander through the narrow streets lined with multicolored houses and painters' workshops.
After lunch, continue your exploration at the Memorial of Slaves where you can take in views of Dakar. Your tour concludes with a visit to the Senegal Historical Museum with your guide, providing further insight into the island's past.
