Immerging from the heart of Barcelona, the Columbus Monument is a towering testament to history and a beacon of cultural richness. Opened in 1888 during the Universal Exhibition, this magnificent Corinthian-style iron column stands proudly at the end of La Rambla, near the sea.
Begin your journey with an ascent inside the column's lift, taking you 60 meters above ground to a viewing gallery. From here, you'll be treated to a 360º spectacle of Barcelona's architectural grandeur and natural beauty. To the north, the Gothic Quarter unfolds with the bell towers of the cathedral, Santa Maria del Mar, and La Mercè punctuating the skyline. Southwards, Mount Montjuïc beckons with its castle, museums, gardens, theatres and the Olympic Ring.
Finally, it's time to feast your eyes on the city's coastal charm. Looking eastward, trace the coastline to spot the modern Forum area with its photovoltaic roof and skyscrapers. Closer still, twin towers mark the entrance to the Olympic Marina. Beneath you lies the Royal Shipyards, home to the Museu Marítim. And to the west, the Parc Natural de Collserola - the city's green "lung" - stretches out with the Collserola Tower and Tibidabo Amusement Park at its peak. This tour truly offers a bird's eye view of Barcelona's rich tapestry of history and culture.
