Spooks, spirits and ancient arts combine on this trip to the heart of Zanzibar culture. In Muyuni Village, you'll learn the lifestyle of the locals before heading to the mystical Ngonga Cave. A maze of underground passages and creepy caverns, it's home to vampire bats and legend has it, a ghost or two. Spend even the shortest amount of time in Muyuni Village and you'll understand the importance of tradition to the locals. Watch them bring ancient craft to life as they introduce you to the art of rope making, basket weaving and makuti plating – a method of making impressive silver jewellery.
After getting to know the community at the village school, you'll set off to explore the mystical Ngonga Cave. Witness a witchcraft healing ceremony in the underground hall, then wander the network of passages and tunnels with your guide. Along the way, you'll discover the history of the cave as a home for vampire bats and the spirits of the Muyuni people's ancestors.
