The National Socialists gained power in the formerly "red" and liberal Hamburg. Learn more about National Socialism in the Hanseatic city and what role the largest overseas port had in the plans of the National Socialists.
Go to the sites of Nazi rule: see the former Gestapo headquarters at Stadthausbrücke, City Hall, the Binnenalster with the Alster Pavilion, and the Justice Forum. Visit the Square of Jewish Deportees, the University, the first party office of the NSDAP, and see the buildings that were subject to expropriation. See the Caroline Quarter as a place of resistance.
Learn about everyday life in the "Third Reich" and about the resistance of the "swing youth", as well as the persecutions of different population groups.
