Your journey begins as you cross the ancient city walls into the religious heart of Pisa, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Piazza dei Miracoli. Known as a significant hub of medieval art, this site leads onto Via Santa Maria, an old pathway linking the religious centre to Piazza dei Cavalieri. Here, you'll find a prestigious university founded by Napoleon Bonaparte, a church, and the Gualandi Tower - the tragic end for Count Ugolino, a character from Dante's Divine Comedy.

The tour continues through Borgo Stretto, an ancient medieval district leading up to the middle bridge. From here, you can take in the splendid view of Lungarni with its historical buildings, food market, and university area framed by striking medieval towers. If you've opted for the tower ticket, you'll have the opportunity to ascend the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa and enter its magnificent cathedral with priority access.
