L'escursione sul ghiacciaio è un'avventura come nessun altra, e con il rapido ritmo dei cambiamenti climatici globali, un'avventura ora disponibile solo in pochissime parti del mondo. Vedrai come gli elementi primari modellano e influenzano il ghiacciaio, creando affascinanti labirinti di creste di ghiaccio e profondi crepacci a forma di V che si incrociano e sfregiano la superficie del ghiaccio. Per non parlare delle grandi doline, chiamate "moulins", che a volte si sono fatte strada attraverso il ghiacciaio, fino alle sabbie nere sottostanti, drenando l'acqua di fusione del ghiaccio in acquascivoli e piccole cascate. Il ghiacciaio porta anche con sé le ceneri delle eruzioni vulcaniche di un passato lontano e non così lontano, potresti anche essere abbastanza fortunato da essere in grado di raccogliere un piccolo campione di cenere vulcanica Eyjafjalljökull dal 2010.
