Located in the heart of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, the California Academy of Sciences is the world’s only aquarium, planetarium, rainforest, and natural history museum all housed under one incredible living roof. With hands-on exhibitions, shows, and public programs, all included in the price of admission, you’re in for an action-packed science adventure.

Be immersed in one of the world’s deepest living indoor coral reefs, home to nearly 60,000 live animals. Meet a colony of playful penguins in African Hall. Then pay a visit to the iconic alligator with albinism, Claude. Step inside a lush, four-story rainforest teeming with life – from free-flying birds to exotic reptiles, amphibians, and more. Catch the latest immersive show in the 75-foot planetarium, taking you on a spectacular journey to the far reaches of the universe, featuring different themes at varying times throughout the day.

The adventure continues outside with unique rooftop views on the 2.5 acre living roof. Then, take an opportunity to activate your child’s curiosity about the natural world in our outdoor nature play and exploration space, Wander Woods. Infants (age 0-2): free admission and no ticket or booking is required
The usual opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 9:30am - 5:00pm and Sunday from 11:00am - 5:00pm. These are subject to change
To reserve a showtime for the planetarium, you'll need to scan the QR code posted in the lobby with your mobile phone as soon as you arrive. The planetarium has limited capacity, and shows may not be appropriate for children under 7 (minimum age: 4 years)
Exhibits are subject to close/change without notice. Other information is also subject to change
Students (age 18+) and senior (age 65+) have to show a valid ID
