Behind its monumental facade, nearly 350 meters long on the Rhône, the Grand Hôtel Dieu de Lyon tells 800 years of social history. From the place of hospitality for the destitute to the luxury hotel Intercontinental and the place of care where remarkable medical progress has been made in the contemporary era, particularly in the field of surgery.

This visit will be as a stroll through the various inner courtyards allows us to embrace the long history of a Lyon institution that has become Hospices Civils de Lyon. As the owner of the site, it chose to move the medical services in 2009 and convert the site, thereby committing itself to the largest private restoration project in Europe.
