Discover Pag: the island of salt, lace and cheese, with medieval city of the same name. At first glance, Pag's unique stone landscape ressembles the moon. The island is one of the sunniest in the Adriatic, with over 2,500 hours of sunshine per year. Pebbly beaches with crystal clear sea comprise the 270 km coastline. Pag stands out among its Adriatic Isle counterparts thanks to stone hideaways that showcase the centuries-old work of the islanders.
Pag is a perfectly protected renaissance city with numerous squares, bridges, villas, and churches, and your local guide will tell you all about its history and cultural heritage. You'll visit the Church of the Assumption of Mary which is in the center of the Old Town. The church holds a miraculous, early 15th-century Holy Cross.
After visiting old churches and the monastery, you'll step back in time walking through Katina, a restoration of the 15th-century bridge that connected Pag to its warehouses. Salt or salt storage facilities are in the center of town, and they indicate how important salt has always been for Pag's people.
You'll also pass the Gradac viewpoint, Pag's most beautiful panoramic view which is on the road connecting Pag and Novalja.
Make a stop at Gligora cheese factory in Kolan, where you'll enjoy a tasting of prize winning cheeses and learn about cheese production, before returning to Zadar in the late afternoon.
