The mountain of Montserrat, unique in the world for its distinctive shape, is located less than one hour from the city of Barcelona.
Montserrat comprises the Sanctuary of the Virgin Mary of Montserrat and the Benedictine monastery, which, for almost 1,000 years, has been at the service of pilgrims from all over the world, who come to worship the Black Madonna, a Romanesque sculpture dating from the late 12th century featuring delicately carved features.

The Montserrat Rack Railway is a public transport means that climbs over 600 meters, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the mountain surroundings. The journey from the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat railway station in Monistrol de Montserrat to the monastery covers 5 kilometers.
The journey takes 15 minutes, with departures from Monistrol Vila every 20 minutes. There is a free car park with 900 spaces for cars and coaches at the station.
