The idea of reviving the old legendary library dates back to 1974, officially inaugurated on 16 October 2002 to mark the beginning of the 21st century. The library has shelf space for eight million books, with the main reading room covering 20,000 square meters. The complex also houses a conference centre with specialized libraries for maps and multimedia for the blind and visually impaired, young people, and children.
