Enter this historic building also known as the Pontificio and get to know its history. Commissioned by Enea Silvio Piccolomini (who later became Pope Pius II) to Bernardo Rossellino was part of a project to rebuild Pienza as an ideal city.
Discover the origins of this place, first build as a summer residence and is unanimously considered the first example of Renaissance architecture. Enjoy the lovely location, right in the center of Pienza near the Duomo.
Learn more about its architecture, a regular plan around a courtyard with a fountain in the center, in harmony with the local landscape. Reach the back porch for a scenic view of the Val d'Orcia and Mount Amiata. Explore the courtyard which is often the setting of many events and concerts, especially during the summer.
