At 40 km north of Essaouira, Ain Lahjar is a hidden oasis, within the southern limits of Dejbel Lhdid. A small paradise of freshness. In this location, a prosperous town dates from the 16th century, the remains of which are a mosque and the mausoleum of Sidi Ali Rahmoun. Surrounded by the Argan grove, a beautiful palm grove is reminiscent of pre-Saharan landscapes. These little paradise benefits from a water source, which springs from the rock and feeds a small river. Since the period of the protectorate, basins and drinking troughs have been built for the herds, as well as dykes to drain water to market gardens. Vegetable fields grow in the shade of pomegranate, figs, olives and palm trees. The source is a gift for the whole region, the peasants traveling, on the back of donkeys, several kilometers to get water. During summer, the boys bathe in the pools and dykes. The agricultural wealth of this area is perceptible through the stone millstones that were used for traditional abandoned mills. Here you will live an unforgettable moment with the local population. After a hike you visit a family from the palm grove who opens the door of its house to share with you unforgettable moments.
