Vienna and Bratislava, the two closest capital cities in Europe, share a rich history rooted in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Both cities have seen the coronation of Empress Maria Theresa: as Queen of Hungary in Bratislava and as Empress of Austria in Vienna.
Your journey begins with a one-hour bus ride from Vienna to Bratislava. Upon arrival in Bratislava, you'll have some free time to explore before meeting your guide outside the main entrance of a centrally located hotel. From there, embark on an hour-long walking tour through the historic city centre. Discover highlights such as St. Martin’s Cathedral, Slovak National Theater, Reduta - home to the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, and the whimsical Man at Work Statue. The tour continues to the Main Square where you'll find Roland Fountain, a statue of a Napoleonic soldier, and the Old Town Hall. You'll also visit the oldest sacral building in Bratislava – the Franciscan Church, St. Michael’s Gate and the Trinity Church.
Post-tour, your guide will escort you to a local restaurant for a traditional two-course meal (drinks not included). After lunch, savour the flavours of local craft beer during a tasting session at a microbrewery, complete with a pretzel to snack on. Following this delightful experience, prepare for your return journey to Vienna by bus.
