Located on the waterfront of the historic area of Belém in Lisbon, MAAT encompasses a thermal power station built in 1908 – MAAT Central – and a contemporary building – MAAT Gallery – connected by a garden that extends along the Tagus River – MAAT Garden. In addition to the schedule of temporary exhibitions and activities, the museum also includes permanent exhibitions, such as The Electricity Factory at the Central, or the sculptures in the outdoor spaces.

At MAAT Central, you'll delve into the fascinating history of electricity and witness the incredible process of transforming coal into electricity at this thermal power station. the museum is adapted for visitors with reduced mobility, with an elevator and ramp to access upper floors; two wheelchairs are available upon request at the ticket office, and there are sanitary facilities available for visitors with special needs
MAAT Central and Gallery open Wednesday to Monday, 10am to 7pm, and close all day on Tuesday, January 1, May 1 and December 25; the museum also stays closed from 3pm on December 24 and 31; please always check for variations
