Discover the history of the Beylerbeyi Palace effortless, passing the ticket lines, then dive straight into your experience with an audio guide, ensuring you don't miss a single detail. Nestled along the Bosphorus shoreline, the Beylerbeyi Palace stands as a significant Istanbul landmark. As you step inside, you'll be transported back to the grandeur of the Ottoman Empire.
The palace was once used as a residence for hosting foreign state guests, its charm steeped in its illustrious past. The story of Beylerbeyi predates the current palace. A summer palace once stood here during Mahmud II's reign but fell into disuse after a fire in 1851. It was subsequently demolished under Abdulaziz's orders, paving the way for the construction of the present palace between 1863 and 1864. The arrangement of furniture and its official opening followed in 1865.
The Beylerbeyi Palace played a pivotal role in the final stages of the Ottoman Empire and left an indelible mark on modern Turkish history when it came under the management of the Presidency of National Palaces in 1925. Today, the palace serves as a museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the Ottoman Empire's glorious past and the palace's own fascinating history.
