"It seems as if the people of Hamburg have expelled everything they no longer wanted or were able to put on in the city into the district of St. Georg," wrote a chronicler in 1811.
Stroll through St. Georg and experience its contrasts and diversity. On the one hand, you'll see a typical suburb but on the other hand, you'll admire equally luxurious hotels like the "Reichshof" and stately townhouses near the Outer Alster. Discover the station district, characterized by a large Muslim community, and see the big Centrum Mosque in Böckmannstraße. Nearby, admire the Catholic church Mariendom.
Learn more about St. Georg as a center of the gay community and about the park, which was known for its drug scene. No one can hardly imagine today that at the Dreieinigkeits church until recently the street prostitution was established.
