Head out on a self-guided adventure to Mokoli'i, Chinaman's hat, for some great paddling and amazing views. On this 3 hour experience, you'll be able to go at your own pace and have plenty of time to explore. You will be meeting right next to the beach, so the tour operator will help you get your kayaks set, get you all the gear you need, give you a quick demo, a safety talk and then let you explore. Feel free to ask the local guide any questions before heading out on yourself-guided kayaking experience. The paddle to Mokoli'i is generally very mild with a constant breeze towards the shore. Conditions are best in the mornings. It's good for beginners, but it is recommended you have kayaked in the ocean before or are an experienced paddler.

You will paddle through the ocean over a sunken lava plain sheltered by a barrier reef out to the Basalt Islet of Mokoli'i where you can choose to snorkel at the base or hike to the top for a panoramic view of the east side of Oahu. The climb to the top is quite an adventure, while short, there's a more technical climb to get all the way up the last part of the rocky face of the islet. This experience is recommended for people looking for an adventurous thing to do on the island, but just need the right gear and direction to go. You will get everything you need to live your adventure.

Be sure to bring/wear water shoes or athletic shoes if you want to hike on the island
If snorkeling, make sure you are capable of getting in and out of the kayak in the water
Keep the area beautiful by keeping on the trails, picking up litter, and avoiding stepping on the reef
Please meet the tour operator at the same location to pick up the kayaks at the scheduled pickup time
The islet is a bird sanctuary, so be mindful of the Sheerwaters who nest in the ground on Mokoli'i
