What to expect
Begin your day with early hotel pickup from your accommodation in El Calafate. Enter the legendary Route 40, following the shores of Lake Argentino, thus beginning your journey towards the town of El Chaltén, located 220 km away from El Calafate.
Once in El Chaltén, start an exciting hike that will take you through the Andean forests. You may have the opportunity to glimpse some of the animals that inhabit this magical environment.
You will follow the famous Fitz Roy path, which begins and ends in El Chaltén. With a total distance of 4 kilometers one way and another 4 kilometers back, it will take you through a challenging route, especially between the first and second kilometers.
In less than two hours, you will reach an exquisite lagoon with crystal-clear waters, surrounded by the native forest, offering a simply spectacular panoramic view of the imposing Fitz Roy massif.

Not suitable for:
- People under 18 years or over 50 years
- People who use a wheelchair or have reduced mobility
- Pregnant women
Know in advance:
- This is a high-difficulty, unguided activity. The route is 8 km trekking and the estimated walking time will be 3 to 4 hours in total
- The service includes a lunch box with ham and cheese sandwich, muffins, granola, water, and fruit. Celiac and vegetarian options are available. When you confirm your booking, please inform the local tour operator about any dietary restrictions
- There is no pickup/drop-off for accommodations that do not have a reception. In that case, the local operator will contact you after booking to arrange a meeting point nearby
- The staff speaks English and Spanish
