What to expect
A half day tour that starts from your accommodation and takes you on a guided experience through the southern Daintree rainforest, Mossman Gorge and coastal environment of Kuku Yalanji country.
Accompanied by an Aboriginal guide, you will go for a walk in the rainforest and you will visit a number of culturally significant areas. You will learn about the amazing relationships the Kuku Yalanji still have with their land, about their history, culture and practices.
You will go through the different food and medicine they use that are derived from nature, you will sample some bush tucker and you will collect shellfish. You will also try some traditional Aboriginal hunting practices such as using a boomerang and spear throwing. If you are lucky, you might catch a mud crab! To complete the adventure you will visit a pristine freshwater stream where you can cool off.
Important to know
- Children aged under 7 years require a booster seat; you can request one by contacting the tour operator using the details on your booking voucher
- You can do this tour in the morning or in the afternoon
- Bring comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, a water bottle and insect repellant
- Bring swimwear and a towel if you want to take a dip in the freshwater stream
