What to expect

This tour starts by picking you up between 02.00 pm and 02:30 pm from your hotel in Siem Reap to visit SATCHA, the first Cambodian handicraft center. SATCHA incubates local artisans, mixing traditional knowledge with contemporary design to showcase Cambodian’ talents to local and international visitors while also transmitting know-how over time, maintaining a sustainable social, economic, and environmental impact.

After that you'll go directly to the Kampong Phluk, flooded and fishing village of Tonle Sap lake, located just 21 kilometers from Siem Reap town. Once in the lake port, you'll take a local boat from the ferry to explore the famous floating villages of Kampong Phluk. There, you can see firsthand what everyday life is like for the many families who make their living primarily from fishing. Most families live on the lake shore in brightly colored houses on long poles, so the high-water levels are not a problem during the rainy season.

Next you'll explore the flooded mangrove forest surrounding the area, which is home to a variety of species, including crab-eating macaques and 3,000 inhabitants. You'll then be taken to visit a Buddhist monastery built on an artificial island and enjoy seeing the sunset from a local boat on Tonle Sap Lake. Then you'll be driven back to your hotel, or you can be dropped off at the Old Market area if you wish.

  • From the end of March to the end of July, the dry season begins and the water levels start to recede and present a unique opportunity for tourists to experience a new perspective of the village’s daily life that is not typically seen. Visitors will have a chance to immerse themselves in the daily life of the villagers living in the dried season. While some boats may become stuck, and smaller canoes are unable to traverse the jungle forest, these challenges add to the thrill of the experience.
