With your admissions ticket, you will be able to cover an exhibition spanning nearly 1,500m² and 62 panels, focusing on the totalitarian regime that ruled the country from the February putsch in 1948 until the Velvet Revolution in 1989. Learn more about topics divided up into thematic sections, such as politics, sports, economics, education, Socialist Realist art, propaganda, the People’s Militias, the army, the police and StB (secret police), censorship, courts, and other institutions. Learn about show trials and political labor camps during the Stalinist era.
Get an authentic feel of the era and enter and interact with mock-ups of a shock worker’s workshop, a child’s bedroom, and an interrogation room. As you make your way through the exhibition, gain a detailed overview with the aid of short videos, posters, and artifacts. Browse through a vast collection of photographic material from the Archive of the Czech News Agency, the Security Services Archive, the Archive of the Association of Forced Military Camp Laborers, and the personal collections of Czech photographers.
