Do this because

  • Enjoy the beauty of the River Sorgue and its resurgence spring
  • See the Roman aqueduct Pont du Gard and village Les Baux de Provence
  • Discover the charming town of Saint Rémy of Provence
  • Admire breathtaking view of the dried-stone hilltop village Gordes
  • Visit the Ocher village of Roussillon

What to expect

Departure from Avignon to Roussillon; built at the top of an ochre cliff. See an harmonious combination of man and nature, of ochre and stone with all these ochre-washed façades. Get the chance to stroll in the market if you take the tour on Thursday.

A photo stop at the panoramic view point of Gordes, a dry-stone hilltop village erected on the top of a cliff. Its fortified castle and church dominate the typical houses of the village which were built with stones from the rock on which they are fitting.

The tour continues to Fontaine de Vaucluse where you can walk up to the cave from which the River Sorgues emerges. This impressive resurgence spring hasn't revealed its secrets yet and many speleologists have searched in vain the exact depth of the well.

After lunch, drive to Saint Remy de Provence to discover this charming town with the tour guide on foot. Next stop, visit this medieval village Les Baux de Provence located on a rocky spur in the Alpilles mountain range. Discover its historical center, its beautiful houses of the 16th century, and the Romanesque-styled St-Vincent Church.

Continue to the Pont du Gard (entrance fees included), the best-preserved aqueduct of the Roman period, dating back to the 1st century and listed by UNESCO.
