Explore the scenic route from Berlin-Wannsee to Potsdam on a guided bike tour.
This picturesque journey takes you from Berlin to Potsdam, a city transformed from a barren Prussian garrison town into a stunning ensemble of castles, pavilions, and churches interconnected through parks and waterways. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this “Prussian Arcadia” is best experienced by bike, offering a sensory feast of history and nature. Starting at the Wannsee S-Bahn station, cross the bridge with views of sailing boats and the lido, then ride along Am Großen Wannsee, lined with villas and yacht clubs. This serene street is steeped in history, featuring the villa of painter Max Liebermann and the infamous site of the Wannsee Conference where the Holocaust was planned. The route continues past Heckeshorn and along the Havel River, offering sights like Pfaueninsel, the Moorlake restaurant, and the Sacrow Church of the Savior across the river. You'll reach Glienicke Castle and its unique pavilion, the "Great Curiosity". Crossing the historic Bridge of Unity, once a border, you enter Potsdam and turn into the New Garden. Here, you can take a break at the Cecilienhof Palace’s dairy. Pedal through Nauen suburb to Potsdam's historic old town, visiting the Brandenburg Gate, the Dutch Quarter, Bassinplatz, and the rejuvenated Old Market. For a challenge, detour to Pfingstberg and the magnificent Belvedere.
Return to Berlin via S-Bahn or regional train from Potsdam Central Station.
