What to expect

The ancient and enormous icebergs breaking off from Vatnajökull glacier into Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon is a unique natural wonder and unforgettable experience to witness. The 1000-1500-year-old ice silently drifts into the lake and slowly melts away and is a spectacular sight. The lagoon covers 18 square kilometers (7 square miles) and reaches more than 248 meters (814 ft) at its deepest point. Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon has also been the location for scenes in Batman Begins, Tomb Raider and two James Bond movies.

On this day trip, you'll also discover the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. You can walk behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall, so make sure to pack a raincoat! Skógafoss waterfall, another famous Icelandic waterfall, is also the starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls hiking trail to Þórsmörk. The waterfall has been the setting for the films Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Stops along the tour include Skógafoss, Glacier lagoon, Diamond beach, Vík í Mýrdal for dinner, Seljalandsfoss, plus additional comfort stops. Along the way you'll also see (weather permitting) volcanoes such as Hekla, Eyjafjallajökull, Vestman Islands, Katla and Öræfajökull, as well as glaciers such as Langjökull, Mýrdalsjökull, Vatnajökull and several glacier snouts; waterfalls: Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss, Systrafoss, Foss á Síðu and several others.
