What to expect
Every winter, Iceland's mighty glaciers are covered in a fresh dusting of snow – ideal for zooming across on a snowmobile adventure. Leaving Reykjavik, you'll drive to meet the monster trucks which get you out into the wilds to reach the basecamp at Langjökull. It takes roughly one hour to get there.
When conditions allow, you'll drive your snowmobile to the Ice Cave, inside the glacier itself. It's been here for more than 400 years - you can track Iceland's historic eruptions by counting the layers of ash trapped in the ice. You'll explore the network of eerie blue caves with a guide, before heading back on the snowmobiles.
When we reach the Mountaineers Glacier Hut it's time to hop aboard the monster truck to ride back through Iceland's snowy terrain.

- You must have a full driving license to drive the snowmobile
- Not suitable for children under 6 years old
- Wear sensible shoes or boots & warm clothing
- Bring camera, packed lunch and money - due to the remote location of the glacier, the last opportunity to buy snacks will be in the morning at a service station
- Times vary according to weather conditions on the day while the duration of the snowmobile part itself is 1 hour
