On this tour, you'll travel to the picturesque medieval village of Kilkenny and its imposing Norman castle. This city, in the ancestral heart of Ireland, is known as the 'city of marble' for the black stone found in its surroundings.
Along the way, you'll get to listen to famous stories and legends of the area, such as that of cats or that of the oldest witch in Ireland! You'll also learn about the Kilkenny division between the English city and the Irish city and its many churches, abbeys and monasteries.
The castle is located on a bend of the Nore River and inside, you'll be able to observe the lifestyle of its inhabitants that have been there for over 800 years, among which the Duke of Ormonde stands out. You will also be able to admire its beautiful rose garden.
There will be some free time to wander through Kilkenny's medieval streets, explore its famous pubs, have a bite to eat, and enjoy a pint of Smithwick beer brewed in Kilkenny!
