This tour will give you a unique, up-close insight into the world of Micil, poitín and gin. So intrinsically Irish, Micil Distillery will share with you the real history of whiskey, poitín and gin. You’ll learn how they’re made, and what makes these products so unique. You’ll hear all about the family's history from the original founder Micil Mac Chearra in 1848 through to his great-great-great grandson, Pádraic, the current head distiller.
You’ll experience the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of a working distillery and hear some interesting, funny and daring stories. You’ll get to taste the products for yourself as you continue to be part of a time-honoured tradition and discover these famous spirits that are steeped in heritage. This is sure to be a unique experience not to be missed.
