What to expect
Escape the coastal heat with a day trip to Shimba Hills National Reserve, just an hour's drive from Diani. This stunning reserve is home to the rare Sable antelope, along with elephants, buffalo, impalas, warthogs, and a diverse array of birds and butterflies.
Start with a short game drive upon arrival, then visit Sheldrick Falls, a stunning 25 metres waterfall with a natural plunge pool for a refreshing shower. Afterward, enjoy a scenic drive through the park and head to the lodge for a late lunch.
In the afternoon, relax at the lodge with views of the Mwaluganje Sanctuary and distant elephants. On clear days, you can see the Usambara Mountains in Tanzania. Conclude the day with a drive back to your beach hotel.
