Discover the beautiful Hanseatic city of Deventer at your own pace. The city walk takes you through the charming combination of new and old, giving an opportunity to visit many interesting sights in the Berg Quarter and around the city square—the Brink.
Firstly, following the Brink square, examine the Penninckshuis – a church, where the VVV is located. Then go to the Deventer Cake Shop, the façade of which gives a captivating insight into the rich history of cake manufacturing in the city. Gaze in wonder at the late Gothic building—The Weigh house, that dates back to 1528 and is the oldest weigh house in the Netherlands. Then learn about Mint Tower that was used as a workshop for the Deventer mint masters, who produced the city's currency there. The next stop will be the Oldest Brick Residential House—the small house on the corner of the Bergkerkplein and the Kerksteeg, the oldest brick townhouse in the city.
Along the way, enjoy the buildings on Menstraat. Finally, get up close with the Wilhelmina fountain, that was established in 1898 on the occasion of the coronation of Queen Wilhelmina.
