Originally a 16th-century monastery, Ferdinand threw out all notions of restraint and ordered its conversion into a Technicolor fairy-tale fortress. The King couldn't settle on a single style, so the castle is a delightful mishmash of Romantic, Renaissance, Manueline and Moorish styles. A must-see for fans of architecture and design (and bright colors)!

- This is a self-guided tour, there is no tour guide that meets you at the start location
- Children (age 0-5) can access Pena Palace and Park for free - no ticket required
- The audio guide is not available for children under the age of 6
- The Park is open from 9.00am to 7.00pm. Last entry will be at 6.00pm
- The National Palace of Pena is open from 9.30am to 6.30pm. Last entry will be at 6.00pm
