Within this extensive network spanning 4.5 kilometers, you will focus on the recovered section of nearly 1 kilometer, which coincides with the bustling Paseo de Almeria.
You will hear about the historical context of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) that profoundly marked the country's history. While Almería did not directly experience the war as the last city governed by the Second Republic, it endured the impact of 52 bombings targeting military, strategic, and even civilian sites.
Against this backdrop of war, the resilient citizens of Almeria took initiative. You will discover how they united to construct underground shelters and actively cooperated in their implementation, demonstrating their determination to protect lives during times of alarm.
