What to expect

Alpujarra is a long valley running east-west from the southern foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Discover this majestic scenery and picturesque villages, have a walk, stop for a delicious lunch, enjoy a peaceful place and discover traditions from the past.

Alpujarras is one of the richest botanical enclaves in Europe. Discover its picturesque villages led by an official tour guide. See handmade products such as straw baskets and colourful carpets. Visit a miraculous place where water flows through its historic seaside resort, founded in 1843.

After this stop continue to Pampaneira, where you can have a full hour of free time to explore the picturesque local shops. Make a must-stop in Portugos, in Fuente Agria (Fountain of Sourness). You should know that the crystal-clear mineral waters flowing through the Sierra Nevada were traditionally used by the inhabitants of the las Alpujarras mountains for medicinal purposes, due to the high concentration of minerals in the water.

Visit Trevelez, the highest village in Spain known for its exquisite Iberian hams. Enjoy a tasting of locally made products. Finally, continue to Bubion and Capileira, dominating from its height the valley of Barranco del Poqueira. It is a wonderful, quiet place where you can have the traditional Alpujarreño lunch.
