The Terra Museum (of the Carulla Foundation) explores through its permanent exhibition the material and immaterial heritage that testifies how life was in the rural world before the second industrial revolution and that helps people understand the present and allows us to imagine more sustainable futures.
Located in Espluga de Francolí, Tarragona, the museum has a wide range of proposals such as temporary exhibitions, family activities or for educational centres. These combine analysis, experimentation, and reflection on the contemporary challenges of society with a look at the past and present of the rural world.
In a museum space of 5,500 m², the Terra Museum is one of the most important ethnological museums in Spain. It has an extensive permanent exhibition that allows visitors to learn what life was like in the rural world of Catalonia, and by extension, in the Mediterranean; before the industrial revolution, how it is today and how it could be in the future. It has a large ethnobotanical garden that is transformed into a magnificent, playful and educational space dedicated to the preservation of ancestral knowledge about plants and garden products.
In addition, do not miss the temporary exhibitions that will help you understand the rural world in an interactive and fun way through the 5 senses. Urban gardens, organic food, sustainable, km 0, ecological, bio... everything in the Terra Museum.
