On this tour, you'll discover the first finds from the Neolithic city of Çatalhöyük. Çatalhöyük was a very large Neolithic and Chalcolithic proto-city settlement in southern Anatolia, which existed from approximately 7500 BC to 6400 BC, and flourished around 7000 BC. In July 2012, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is admired for its extraordinary art, date back to 7400 BC. The city is described as the international key to understanding the foundations of civilization and agriculture. Çatalhöyük's Neolithic settlement style and urban plan are believed to reflect the ideals of equality.
Next you'll visit the Mevlâna Museum in Konya, which initially served as the dervish lodge (tekke) of the Mevlevi order, better known as the whirling dervishes. It houses the mausoleum of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi (Turkish: Celaleddin-i Rumi), a Persian Sufi mystic. This visit to Konya City will make you realize the historical, cultural and mystical importance of the place.
