Cruising along the Thu Bon river, you'll head towards Cua Dai estuary. On arrival at Duy Hai Fish market, the first thing you'll notice is just how busy a real working market is. As you stroll around marveling at the array of seafood on offer, you'll also have the opportunity to chat with locals to learn about their lives and daily routines.
The next stop is the traditional craft village of Cua Khe, the home to “nuoc mam” (fish sauce) from this region. Cua Khehas existed for hundreds of years, with the main products of the craft village being anchovy fish sauce and dried fish products for export. Fish sauce is made from anchovies and salt and left to ferment for several months.
Having seen what the sea has to offer, you'll then move on to see what the land has to offer by visiting the Distillery of Indochina. Found in the South of Hoi An not just because of the high quality of the local groundwater but because of its unique sugar cane variety which is not only renowned for its quality but also aromatic properties.
Back on the rural track, you'll head off to explore the countryside and hidden villages, to really get into the nitty-gritty of local life... You'll take a tour around the rice and sweet potato fields and see the farmers preparing and fertilizing the land. There you'll discover everyday working the land. The last stop will be to visit a local house where you can explore a bird nest’s cave and enjoy the unique cuisine.
