Sunwapta river's Class 3 rapids rafting

The Sunwapta River delivers fast-paced fun in a stunning mountain setting. This Class 3 whitewater trip is best suited to adventurous first-timers and returning rafters ready to step up the excitement. With its steep gradient and continuous rapids, the Sunwapta promises a thrilling splash-filled ride.

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive to the put-in point, where you'll gear up with wetsuits, helmets, paddles, and life jackets. After a detailed safety orientation from your certified river guide, you’ll be on the river. A short float lets you soak in the views and get comfortable paddling as a team, then it's straight into the action.

Known as turbulent river in the Stoney language, Sunwapta lives up to its name with continuous whitewater. You’ll paddle through lively wave sections, and tackle memorable rapids including a local favorite known as "The Whopper". The intensity of the water is balanced by the serene beauty of the surrounding wilderness, with towering peaks and alpine forests lining the route.

This is a hands-on paddling experience, so a moderate fitness level is recommended — but you don’t need prior rafting experience to join. Just bring your sense of adventure and get ready to get wet.
