Plitvice National Park is a big tick on any bucket list in Croatia. You'll have an early start to reach the UNESCO World Natural Heritage site of Plitvice National Park, but some trips are worth the effort. As Croatia's largest and oldest national park, this emerald gem is home to 16 lakes, interconnected by waterfalls that've got the serious wow factor. And, with every shade of green and blue in the spectrum – this place is pure Instagram gold.
Arriving at the park by mid-morning lets you beat the crowds, and gives you plenty of time to explore some of the 18km of wooden paths that snake around the park. As you wander, keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife that calls this park home – from deer and bears to over 120 species of birds. The guided nature walk will take you along all the bridges, boards, and best lookout points over the lakes so you can snap up all the views you want.
