There was a time when witch fires burned all over Europe. Also in Cologne and its surroundings people were denounced as witches and sorcerers, tortured and handed over to the flames. During a city tour with the witch commissioner Dr. jur. Wilhelm Brandenburg (1579-1648), you will be transported back to the time of witch trials, witches, sorcerers, witch commissioners, executioners and the pyres. Hear about the fates of the women who had to go into the fire and about the cruel methods of torture. Also, learn how the neighbors and acquaintances reacted to the cruel events. Experience the eerie eras of Cologne during this creepy guided tour. A fantastic journey into the mysterious time of the ghost mania and the witch hunt. A world of black magic, ghosts and devil's wagers.
The tour starts at the Historic Town Hall in Cologne. There, the guide, dressed up as a witch commissioner, is waiting for you. At the individual stations of the tour, you will learn about traditional legends and Cologne spooky stories. At the end of the tour, a spooky surprise awaits all participants.
