Trier guided walking tour

Discover Trier, Germany's oldest city, during a guided walking tour and hear about the cities' history from its Roman days to the present.

See the large ancient buildings such as the Porta Nigra, Constantine's Basilica as well as the Imperial Baths, where bathing actually never took place. In the Aula Palatina, the throne room of Constantine the Great, your guide will explain the mastery of Roman architecture, like the Roman heating technology in the walls and under the floor.

Compared to the checkered Roman cityscape, the winding Trier emerged later in the Middle Ages. During this period, the triangular main market square with the Petrusbrunnen (St. Peter's Fountain) and the Marktkreuz (Market Cross) advanced to become the center of urban life. The architecture surrounding the square reflects the centuries-long struggle between the archbishop and the citizens for dominance over the city. With the imposing facade of the cathedral, its centuries-old architectural history, you will encounter the oldest episcopal seat in Germany.
