The first stop of this private tour from Rethymno is Chania, where you will spend 3.5 hours.

You can walk in the beautiful city of Chania starting from the Municipal Market, completed in 1913. Here you will find a lot of shops selling traditional products such as spices, local cheeses, or pastries. Prepare to explore the most popular street of the town, Halidon Street. There you will find the Orthodox Church of the Three Martyrs, while across there are the Folklore and the Archaeological Museum. At the end, reach the Venetian harbor for a coffee or ice cream.

After you explored the city of Chania, you will be led to Kournas lake, where you will have 1.5 hours of free time. The water of the lake increases during winter, from adjacent sources in the mountains and decreases in summer revealing a gold sandy strip. Here is home to many birds and animals – you can encounter moorhens, ducks, geese, herons, cormorants, eels, water snakes, goldfish and rare species of turtles, who are permanent residents of this friendly wetland.
