Do this because

  • Discover the old port of Jaffa and its rich history with a knowledgable guide
  • Choose between a visit to the American Colony or two open-air market streets
  • Have fun on the Rothschild Boulevard, the vibrant heart of modern Tel Aviv

What to expect

On this tour, you will encompass some of the most interesting places around the fascinating city of Tel Aviv.

You'll start at 4000-year-old Jaffa where you will see the archaeological findings from the days of the Pharaohs, Crusader times architecture, ancient mosques and Medieval churches. You will follow the shreds of evidence of Napoleon's invasion and defeat, walk along the winding alleyways of old Jaffa and its port.

From Jaffa, you will continue to Tel Aviv. Here you have a choice of two possible routes:

1. Visiting two oldest neighborhoods: you'll find the American Colony, another settlement built by a religious group from Maine who came to resettle in the Holy Land in preparation for the coming of the Messiah. Then explore the charming Neve Zedek, the first Jewish neighborhood built outside of Jaffa walls.

2. Visiting two open-air market streets: Carmel food market (closed on Saturday) and Nahalat Binyamin handicraft market (open on Tuesday and Friday).

The tour then continues to the vibrant heart of modern Tel Aviv around Rothschild Boulevard. Here you will discover the eclectic mix of modern skyscrapers, Middle Eastern and beautiful Bauhaus architecture of the White City of Tel Aviv, designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

Finally, if the time permits, the last stop of the tour will be Sarona, a former German Templers colony. Its well-preserved houses are all built in the old German XIX Century style, and the entire area is a bustling open-air market and a very popular recreation area.
