Founded by Marco Agrippa between 25 and 27 B.C. as a temple to the 12 gods, the building was originally part of a complex created on his property in the Campo Marzio. The building inspired the great artists of the Renaissance and remains one of the greatest architectural masterpieces of antiquity.
