What to expect
Thanks to its mineral-rich volcanic landscape, Sicily's waters are full of life. And it's just the place if you fancy trying out scuba diving for the very first time. You'll enjoy a taster of breathing and seeing underwater – and learning the basics - on this discovery experience without having to commit to a course.
After making your own way to the port in Giardini-Naxos, you'll set off cruising along the coast. With the mighty Mount Etna looming in the background, you'll sail into the island nature reserve of Isola Bella. Literally translated as ‘beautiful island', this is a good spot for clocking wildlife.
Complete beginners and anyone aged above 10 are welcome on this discovery experience, which will give you an introduction to all things scuba diving. See what it's like to breathe underwater, and learn the basics to get you started alongside expert instructors. And once you're comfortable, you'll perform a shallow dive in the Grotta Azurra and Grotta Del Giorno sea caves.

The answer is simple – volcanic soil is extremely fertile, and you'll see traditional crops like vines and citrus fruits, plus newcomers such as avocados and papaya growing here.'Make sure you're wearing comfortable walking shoes and warm layers – it gets cold at high altitude. After admiring the views from near the summit, an expert alpine guide will take you to a less exposed 2,500m, where you'll watch the sunset in a more comfortable location. Then on the way back, we'll stop at a chalet restaurant for a typical Sicilian dinner.
